About The Photographer
I have, or my family has had pets for as long as I can remember. Dogs, cats, hamsters, and fish have all at some point been in our house.
Growing up around animals I knew that they are much more than just pets, but a true furry member of the family. When I was in college studying Fine Arts I fell in love with photography and one of my first subjects was my dog Lucky. After I graduated from the University of Cincinnati ’s school of Design , Art, Architecture, & Planning (DAAP) with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2002 I continued taking photographs of many different subjects.
Currently I have two cats, Gracie & Neko, that were rescued from a local shelter. Like the rest of my pets they have found their way on the other end of my lens. Today, I volunteer at the Boone County Animal Shelter and photograph the adoptable dogs and cats. They are then listed on Petfinder.com and the shelter uses the photographs to make up flyer’s for each pet.
When I started Shively Photography & Design in 2005 I thought that focusing on pets would be a great way to help people have photographs of their beloved pets that capture their personalities. My hope is that I can create photographs and portraits that help owners remember their pets when they were younger and when they are no longer with them.
